Registed at St. Leonards, North Sydney, N.S.W.Florence was living in Neutral Bay at the time of her death. Herman Carl was the third Child of Ernest and Maria KRUTLI. No record has been found for Herman Carls birth. His age on Ella Augustas and Charles Fredericks Birth Certificates places his birth in 1866. Herman Carl finished school at the age of twelve or thirteen and started a Photographic apprenticeship with a Mr. J.W.Lindt.
Herman spent the next five years under the supervision of Mr. Lindt and received no pay while in his Apprenticeship. During his Apprenticeship he travelled to Glenrowan station in the spring of 1880 with Mr. Lindt, who had been assigned by an enterprising Melbourne newspaper to accompany the special police train expedition against the bushranger Ned KELLY. While Mr. Lindt scouted around with his camera, Herman stood by ready to sensitize the plates. After the arrest, record photographs were made and used by the newspaper as a guide to their woodcut artist.
On reaching the age of eighteen Herman developed the desire to travel, before long finding himself in Sydney without friends and with little cash. However, with his profession at his finger tips, he soon got a position at fifty shillings a week from Mr. Roarty, then a flourishing photographer on Brickfield Hill. In two months his salary reached seventy shillings. While working for Mr. Roarty he was approached by Mr. T.B. Hutchinson from Brisbane to take charge of a studio at five pound a week, After two years and a large degree of responsibility for a young lad (20 -21) the work load took a toll on his health and was advised to move away from the Brisbane climate. The first town to which he travelled was Roma, where he set up a studio above the local Chemist and Dentist owned by a Mr. CARTELL. While at Roma he was continually receiving letters from Creelman Studios in Sydney desiring his services, his brother Albert was employed there at the time. On moving to Sydney he was forced to leave the train at Dubbo due to Travel sickness. While recovering a day or two at Dubbo he noticed a "Studio to let" sign over the local Newsagent. Herman enquired out of mere curiosity and become the Photographer for Dubbo. During his stay at Dubbo Herman married Florence. They then moved to Orange where their first child Oscar was born in 1889. Moving onto Sydney to be employed at Creelman Studios in 1890 to 1897. During this time the second child Laurel was born in 1891 and was registered at Leichhardt.
Laurel F. KRUTLI died at the age of nine in 1900 and the death was registered at Paddington. In 1892 the third child Olga was born and was registered at Woolahra. From 1899 to 1916 Herman was employed at Crown Studios.
An Autobiography was written by Herman, compiled by Marie McLardy, B.Ec. and published in the Australasian Photo-Review, September 1947. In this article it was mentioned that Herman Carl KRUTLI was killed in an accident shortly after these notes were compiled.

Charles Frederick was the ninth child of Ernest and Maria KRUTLI. Charles and some of his family moved to Queensland when he was 3 years old. While in Queensland he learnt his trade as a photographer. Charles worked for another business while in Queensland and not with the family business which included Theodor Albert, Ernest Adolph and their father. One Christmas Charless father asked (or demanded) him to come home and work for the family business, which he did as this was a very busy time of the year. The next Christmas the same thing happened but Charless Employer said he wanted Charles to stay as he was also busy. His father was not happy about the situation so family conflict erupted, shortly after Charles moved to Broken Hill and changed his name to KINGSLEY so he could not be found by his family. After Setting up a Photographic Studio he changed his name back to KRUTLI and his brother Theodore then joined him as a partner for a time until there was a dispute about money. Eventually the studio was sold and Charles then worked in the mines at Broken Hill.
