Welcome to my Jehovah's Witnesses Web Site!

THIS SITE IS STILL BEING DEVELOPED AND WILL UNDERGO CONTINUAL UPDATING

It has been relocated here (and updated) from www.jwnet.org/brenton on 14 July 1999

IT IS NOT SPONSORED BY THE WATCH TOWER BIBLE AND TRACT SOCIETY

As one surfs the Internet, you are likely to come across many sites that that badly misinform people about the teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses. Some of these sites are from former Jehovah's Witnesses, while other sites are from individuals and/or groups that have done some research in the teachings of JW's but fail to understand what it is that they have read, thus giving a distorted picture of what they think JW's believe. Some of them sound as if they know what they are talking about because of the amount of quotes they put forward from WTBTS literature. Their expose's appear to put the teachings and the writings of JWs under the microscope to reveal a lot of inconsistencies. Unfortunately they nearly always fail to give their readers the complete picture, just enough to try to show their point.

I have no intention of trying to convince opposers of JWs to change their minds. The purpose of this site is to give an answer to some of the criticism that has been levelled at Jehovah's Witnesses and at the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. In particular in reference to the changes that have happened (and will happen) and to the way the New World Translation is translated. Hopefully, as these pages develop, you will see that the NWT is different and not wrong. YOU, the reader, will be able to make a better, informed, decision as to if the NWT can be relied on. Hopefully you will also see that a lot of the information portrayed on the net about JWs is misleading and in some cases dishonest.

I am not going to attack any sites found on the World Wide Web, but give a general answer to the above in an effort to better inform interested ones, and, to encourage some that may have read material published in other places and are feeling very disheartened.

The numbers in GREEN indicate the approximate number of A4 printed pages. This is provided in case you did not want to read the information while on line and prefer to print out the material. The date in RED shows when that page was last updated

To Discussion on New World Translation 25 4st Oct. 99

This first essay is to discuss the reliability of the NWT. At the present time, it discusses John 1:1, John 1:3 NEW, John 17:3, Ephesians 6:4 and Col 1:15-18. Under John 1, 1 there is also a discussion on Isaiah 40 and 43.

PLEASE NOTE: I am not schooled in Biblical Greek, or Hebrew. When I start to talk about language use, the material that I use is derived from various Text Books. My use of these languages is not designed to be confrontational to scholars, but used from the point of view of one lay person to another.

To a Discussion on "ORGANISATION" 11 14 July 99

This essay (not yet complete) looks at the idea "Has Jehovah ever used an Earthly Organisation and would he use one today". This essay gives a scriptural discussion, and examples to demonstrate that, to make mistakes, misunderstand Scriptures, and for personalities to get in the way, does not in itself disqualify one (or an organisation) from being used by our creator.

To Discussion on changes in Prophecy within the organisation 12 24 October 2000

This essay looks at what was really said in regard to different dates (1874, 1914, 1925, 1975) and if they were "prophecy" or not. I also look at the April 1 1972 Watchtower article that is claimed by some to show that the organisation is a "prophet".

ESSAYS TO BE DEVELOPED

Salvation

Just what do JWs believe as regard salvation? Is it earnt? Can it come from an organisation? Many assume, and give the impression that JWs believe that salvation comes from the work of door knocking for the WTBTS and that salvation is gained by the Organisation. This essay attempts to answers those questions.

Chronology

Many opposers will say that the early writers for the WTBTS employed "shifting date" techniques in relation to 607/606 BC and 1914/1915 AD. The assumption is made that dates were changed to suit circumstances thus demonstrating that the chronology used by the WTBTS today and then is wrong. This essay looks at this issue and if 1914 is a date that can be validated by Bible Chronology.

MIND CONTROL

Opposers of the WTBTS assert that they use and teach the every day JW to use Mind Control techniques in holding onto and making "converts". This essay explores the types of principles used and if/how they relate to JWs.
